Personal Mission Statement
I am an interior design student at North Dakota State University. I originally came to NDSU for the architecture program, but eventually learned that my interests lie with spatial planning and designing interiors. I grew up in Rochester, MN, where I developed a love for design and creativity. I have always enjoyed helping others, so I am ecstatic to find a career path that is centered around creating beautiful spaces for people to enjoy.
My goal is to create innovative designs that are tailored specifically for the client's needs. I focus on function and sustainability, not only about curating the perfect aesthetic for a client. A large part of my design process is centered around sustainability. I combine the use of very durable materials made from recycled content, and finding manufacturers that take steps toward reducing their carbon footprint. The use of durable materials helps to guarantee clients lasting materials, thus keeping these materials out of landfills for as long as possible. Another main focus of mine is inclusive design strategies. I work to create designs made for all, not just the average person. To do this, I ensure all spaces meet or exceed the ADA standards, incorporate straightforward wayfinding, and innovative design solutions for people with diverse abilities.
