The V3 Center - Aquatic Center

Furniture Design

January 2024?

V3 Center is a community-inspired health and wellness facility. Opened in 2024 to both public and private acclaim, it is a showpiece for the City of Minneapolis and stunningly success example of a public private partnership. Located in the heart and soul of North Minneapolis and is just a 15-minute walk from Downtown at 701 Plymouth Ave North, Ideal worked closely with the organization and the architects to furnish a fitness facility that is unparalleled in the metro area. Featuring furnishings by Flexxform and other partners, these photos depict an environment that is truly functional, comfortable and diverse.

Soul Bowl - Soul Food Restaurant

Furniture Design

March 2024?

Homegrown, soul food restaurant, Soul Bowl, finally finds its permanent home connected to The V3 Center in North Minneapolis, MN. I space planned the restaurant, specified the furniture selections, and designed the furniture materials, while coordinated with LSE Architect's interior design elements. As this space is a separate entity than The V3 Center, we wanted to ensure the design reflected that. The design intent was grounded in community-building, warmth, and connection. For the furniture materials, I used rich, deep wood tones contrasted with matte black metal framing, mixes of greens, creams, and browns to emulate the nature that surrounds Minneapolis.

Space planning was a journey that needed many options, iterations, and discussion leading to a team decision that flexibility is the most important consideration. Due to this, we used the same size table top for all tables in the main dining area. This was to allow staff and users to create different configurations for each groups' needs. It was imperative to include multiple types and heights of seating to offer people with different abilities the best option for their needs.
